Active Connector

The Pervasive PSQL Active Connector is a new database interface technology similar to the Btrieve API, PDAC, ODBC, JDBC, and the like. It is differentiated from other DBMS drivers in that it provides real-time data translation services that make data from legacy ISAM applications compatible with relational (SQL) standards without code changes.

Because of its dual-access architecture, Pervasive PSQL provides a superior foundation for Active Connector technology. When utilizing the Active Connector, programmers continue to access data utilizing familiar ISAM programming constructs. High-performance access to this ISAM data is ensured by Pervasive PSQL's navigational interface (the Btrieve API). During this interaction, data is seamlessly translated into a format compatible with Pervasive PSQL's relational interface and is thus accessible from all relational components and drivers. The active Connector has the capability to handle ISAM issues that often create problems for SQL engines like data type incompatibility and COBOL OCCURS clauses. The results are amazing. Data that was once off limits to the query capability of SQL is now wide open and the application logic is unaltered.

Pervasive PSQL Active Connector for ACUCOBOL-GT®

The Pervasive PSQL Active Connector for ACUCOBOL-GT allows COBOL developers to easily leverage Pervasive PSQL in their ACUCOBOL-GT applications. Once converted, programmers can then use SQL to interact with their ACUCOBOL-GT data from any available Pervasive PSQL relational access mechanism including ODBC, OLEDB, ADO, ADO.Net, JDBC, etc.
