Business Challenge

The CRM market is extremely competitive and achieving and sustaining success with SME's demands savvy - to be successful in this market vendors need to provide customers with solutions that are built around what the customer wants and that provide a low TCO. Many SME customer have small IT departments, if any at all, and these customers are demanding software that can be installed easily or doesn't require a database administrator (DBA).

During the past few years companies have been cautious about spending on CRM implementations due to some well-publicized failures. Now that the IT purchasing trend is reversing and spending is again on the rise, the priority has never been greater for low TCO solutions to demonstrate an immediate return on investment (ROI). As companies have grown resistant to expensive software applications that take months and even years to deploy, the challenge for Maximizer Software was in demonstrating to prospects that its software can install easily and operate continually without the requirement of a database administrator (DBA).

"SME customers are looking for a CRM solution that is to install and easy to use. Many of our customers have small IT departments and even smaller budgets so they can't afford to hire a database administrator," said Tom Bennett, Office of the President & CTO, Maximizer Software. "At the same time, these customers are demanding deployment in weeks, not years. The return on investment (ROI) that customers are looking for is now measured in terms of days and weeks instead of months and years."

The Pervasive Solution

By integrating the Pervasive database with its CRM products, Maximizer Software can provide SME customers with a proven and cost-effective way to manage, integrate, and secure their data. Pervasive's products are designed and built from the ground up to deliver flexible, value-based solutions that respect the specific budgetary and resource concerns of all organizations.

"One of the biggest advantage of using Pervasive is its zero DBA, meaning the database is solid enough not to need a database administrator," said Bennett. "Database administrators are not cheap. If a company requires a DBA that is an added expense that needs to be factored into the cost of running the software. Pervasive is saving companies this expense that basically equates an extra person you don't have to hire."

In addition, Pervasive's products offer enterprise-level functionality to help organizations quickly and fully integrate disparate systems and connect them to applications, data, people and business partners. According to Bennett, "If we didn't have a solid database like Pervasive our customer satisfaction levels would suffer and we'd be required to apply increased resources to customer support."

Maximizer's on-going commitment to the Pervasive products over the last decade is leading Bennett to evaluate some of Pervasive's complementary data management products, particular those that are helping customers comply with business laws such as the Sarbanes-Oxley accounting reform and the "Do Not Call" protection acts in the U.S. and in Europe.

"Some customers are concerned with compliance issues and they like that we give them the ability to proactively monitor and audit the information in their database," said Bennett. "We're now looking at Pervasive's AuditMaster and Data Exchange products, as well as the Pervasive Integration products that resulted from Pervasive's acquisition of Data Junction. Some of our users would like to get their hands on this functionality," he said.

"SME customers that want a no-hassle CRM solution are choosing Maximizer Enterprise with the Pervasive database," concludes Bennett. "A CRM solution won't sell if an SME customer cannot manage it quickly and easily and Pervasive is helping us solve many of the business problems that SME's have."
