Pervasive's Charter Certification Development Team --- The First Job Task Analysis Workshop, July 2001
Pervasive's goal for certification is to achieve a comprehensive, world-class program.
As part of this effort, Pervasive has begun following a proven business model for developing
certification tests, starting with the Certified Pervasive Technician (CPT) and Certified
Pervasive Developer (CPD) certification tests. (Watch for a new, improved "Version 2" of
the Certified Pervasive Professional, developed under this same business model after the
release of the CPT and CPD!)
The Job Task Analysis workshop held in July laid the foundation for the Certified Pervasive
Technician exam. With participation from Pervasive Partners and Pervasive Subject Matter
Experts, objectives and required skills and tasks were identified and outlined, so that they
can later be prioritized, fine-tuned and transformed into question sets. The tasks spread
from walls, to windows, then down the hallways! We couldn't have asked for a more dedicated,
focused team!
Meet representatives from the Charter Certification Development Team and see what they had to say on the last of four long days of intensive brainstorming and task definition:

| "For one, (I gained) an insight into the complexities of creating this type of
training/certification. And an appreciation of the same. From an experience standpoint,
it's an exceptional view and exposure. It's not only an exercise, it's training that I
can take back and implement into our own departmental processes." |
| "It's hands-on experience of meeting and interacting with key Pervasive staff and
management." "It's an excellent process. It's a well-defined, well-executed process with
objectives and goals. I'd do it again in a heart-beat!" |

| "(I gained knowledge of) a lot better procedures for creating better-qualified Pervasive
personnel within my company." |
| "It's an easier process to get more people certified, and it's more inviting to
someone to want to get certified. The thing I liked was getting different angles and input." |
| "(I gained) a whole lot of knowledge about fine-tuning a training curriculum." "There was great camaraderie, and everyone worked well
together." |
| "(There was) a lot of detailed insight into what the role really
entails and how to define it -- as detailed as you can get. This will provide
a solid central theme for the training classes and study materials." |
